EXPLORER SPORT side chopped and RANGER tail gate

Subscribing for future reference. I'm thinking of doing this but I think I'll use the Ranger tailgate but reskin it with the sheetmetal from the existing liftgate. Cool!

Wouln't removing the side braces weaken the structure. Incase of a rollover are you going to put in a rollcage?

Excellent point. One of the reasons the Sport had such a strong roof in comparison to the 4 doors was likely those wider side supports. You've gone from 8 supports to 6, and the front two on either side of the windshield aren't very strong at all.

A basic roll bar setup would be a very, very good idea.

Great work on that rear tailgate - something I am definitely interested in doing to my ex - keep it up!

I really like the look.

I love it and plan on doing it to mine. The only three questions I had were how you lock it, if water gets in, and how you get the spare tire out since it looks like the tailgate blocks where you twist to lower the spare.
