Ok, Ive yet to find and aftermarket throttle body for the SOHC 4.0L. Ive heard about swapping a 4.6L V8 TB onto the V6. Is this a possibility? Ive compared pics of each side by side and they are very similar in appearance. Does anybody know the factory interior diameter for both TB's(4.6L and sohc v6)? Would it be too big to go with an aftermarket 4.6L TB? I know that the opening in the factory intake is only so big. What about TPS and throttle linkage compatibility? Voltages and whatnot on the TPS? What about the BBK 66mm tb for the ohv v6? Is that a possible swap or is the factory sohc larger than 66mm? Ive done a search and didnt come up with anything helpful. Thanx dave

Yes it is and I did it a long time ago. Take a look at http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=139454&highlight=mustang .

This was a great mod for me.

I even went one step further and ported and shafted it for even better performance. Take a look at http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172480 . This mod further enhanced the TB.

They are indeed very similar; the 4.6 TB is a direct bolt on for the 4.0 SOHC.

No. I made mine even bigger ( to 70 mm ).

What about TPS and throttle linkage compatibility? Voltages and whatnot on the TPS?

Direct plug and play bolt on. A 15 minute install.

Damn, thanx Aldive. I did a search and didnt find that thread. I guess i didnt search with the right words lol. I run the sniper tuning software and im wondering if i'll get an ever bigger increase if i tune for the bigger TB. Anybody have any feelings on a TB spacer? Do they work at all?

i installed the tb spacer on my ex about 2 yrs ago...youll feel the throttle response right away...put that together with my k&n cai and youll feel the difference from not having the tb spacer installed

yes the tuning should help add even more with the TB due to the correction factor for WOT being changed in the tuning

Aren't both TB the EXACT same??? The SOHC is a 65mm, and so is the stock 4.6L TB....Now performance gains will be made
