looking for a cure for a 2002 ford explorer that quit running immediately after filling up the fuel tank. Still will not start.

Was it running, you filled the tank, and it stalled?

Does the motor turn over like it should?

Can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key?

Typically the diesel nozzle is bigger and shouldn’t fit.

I personally have not gotten into it yet. But the remark of diesel fuel reminds me of a occurrence similar to that this year on the race track. I arrived to the track just in time to see one of my competitors being towed in. I went over to the fellow and asked what happened? He replied that all was well and it just suddenly quit. So myself and a half dozen others went to work trying to solve the problem. This was Friday, Saturday was not much better. We had changed out fuel pump. distributer, carburetor and everything else we could think of. One of the guys son arrived to the track and joined us. He asked for a fuel sample. Looked at it, smelled it, and asked the owner he had gotten the fuel. Gas pump in Canada was the answer. Well, that is not gas but is diesel! The fellow was able to join us on the track Sunday, but smoked a lot.

Better to put diesel in a gas motor, than the other way around...

I have got to get with my daughter to find out where she filled up at. As I was typing out my last reply, It occurred to me that she may have done the same thing. I sure hope not!

I will. I called her earlier today and found out that she had indeed filled the vehicle up at a truck stop! I think diesel in the tank is now a definite possibility! Not looking forward to draining the tank.

It’d be an easy fix, at least, and won’t be expensive. I’m surprised the nozzle fit.

In Washington state, we pump our own gas. In Oregon they will pump your gas and you have got to yell at them not to keep pumping after the nozzle has shut off. Some even refuse to do your windows. Should have seen my car after running thru a swarm once!

Oregon and NJ are the only states that don’t allow self serve. In Oregon it depends on the size of the county.

Half to wait at least until this weekend. My daughter puts in way too long of a day every day. She has her own department for a insurance company.
