How much does it cost to replace? I cracked mine today by a tree branch that was lower than I thought it was. I'm going tomorrow for prices from different places but I just wanted to see how much it generally is before they try to take advantage of a teenage trying to fixed what he cracked. Thanks.

$150 tops in my area thats installed in your driveway, by one of the mobil installers, they do great work IMO, better to pony up a few bucks than getting your insurance company involved, even if it's free under comp, you will get nailed down the road with higher rates

Here in florida its free, insurance company has to pay for it, And even some palces give you free boxes of steaks if you get them to do it :smoke: :)

Mine was $188 in VA... they came and did it right in my driveway

Good job, Davo!!! :p

If your dad has comprehensive insurance coverage, then the windshield is free. I need to see what kind of mess you got into!! LOL...

If you have insurance, make sure you get a true "Ford" windshield. If this is all out of your pocket, then get what you can afford. Is yours tinted?

In No. CA I got a factory windshield in my driveway for $175. My dime. A 92, and my 4th windshield!

Just had mine replaced last month, and it was $200.00 including labor and taxes. Took the guy only 30 minutes from start to finish. I had to wait an addtional 20 minutes for the thing to set and dry (sealent) however, as recommended by the glass shop.

Um...I wouldn't go to any place that givers me "boxes of steaks" for free when they do a repair....those steaks have to be in the price somewhere...If not in parts, then shoddy labor.

Well I called around and the cheapest was 200 installed in my driveway. My windshield was factory tinted and if the one i'm getting isn't then I will go get it tinted to match the rest of the car. I do not know if the windshield is from the factory or not.

Me thinks glass is glass, as a side note, my wife has this money pit M5 beemer, great car but if you look at it wrong it will cost you a couple dead presys, at any rate she needed new wiper blades last winter, call the dealer, 150 bucks, no way says I,
Go get some Piaas, extend the arms on the spring things, pull off the old blades, turn around and wack the arm sans blade and destroy the windshield, about that time the spousal unit comes out to head for work, darlin, take the trac, still workin on the blades, no problemo, call beemer dealer, 1200 bucks, call windshields America, non OEM 300 installed, in my garage, never saw a need to tell the wife, she said thx for the new blades and for cleaning the windshield :)

Thats how all luxury car dealers are LOL. Lexus dealers charge $20 a quart for Mobil 1 Synthetic oil, its terrible.

As for glass being glass, not always. I've had a lot of windshields replaced and I always replace them with factory glass so the tint matches up right and the quality is the same as the original. A lot of aftermarket windshields (at least in my experience) have distortions and such which drive me nuts, I'd rather leave the factory one cracked. Ford windshields are really cheap as Ford has an independent glass division that makes replacement glass for all kinds of cars, industrial building glass, home windows etc. Just the glass for my Lexus costs over $1000 (I had it replaced 3 times on the old one, knock on wood the new one hasn't been hit....yet) but luckily insurance can't make you use aftermarket parts on a new-ish car.

I'd also reccomend against getting it done in your driveway. That interested me too until i heard some horror stories about windshields flying out in accidents and leaking because they didn't have control over the environment when they installed the glass.
