Any advice on how to replace an exterior drivers door handle on a 98 ex? I have done it in the past but it is a royal PITA. Any tricks to make the job easier??
hi there, here is a tip unless you know it already. when you go to put the rivets back in, you need one of them big two armed rivet guns. if you have nice paint, or don't want to scratch it, put a piece of cardboard below the handle. that way if (and it aways dose) the gun drops after the rivet snaps, it won't skid half way down the door.
BTW, I installed the 99 door handles from my wreck onto my 91 and 93 doors. They will work, but the holes had to be higher, with some slight whittling.
The large rivet gun can be had cheap at Harbor Freight or Northern. Order the correct black rivets, a box of 12-14 was about $15. They look better, good luck.
Yeah a heavy duty manual rivet gun or easier a large air rivet gun. I just repaired mine. Luckily I have an air one works great. Then again I am a body man.
