External Door Locks

I bought my '99 XLT used and the previous owner did not have the entry code to unlock the doors.

I have called 2 dealers in Alaska and had both service departments tell me that it is impossible to reset the code and enter a new one.

Is this true? Does anybody know how I can reset these codes and become able to open the door without a key?

go thru the back hatch. on the left hand side in the jack compartment there will be a module. on the module should be a sticker with the code on it.
