So yesterday I get my X out from the parking garage after work, drive about 5 miles out of DC to My apartment. No problem. It is about 5:00 pm, and with the heat index it is like 102. After I go inside for about 15 min. I come out and My X will turn over, but wont fire. Plenty of battery power. I try for about 10 min. go back inside. An hour later, I go out and it fires right up, same this morning. What is causing this? I dont really want to spend $90 on diagnostics if it isnt going to happen again. Any ideas? Thanks.

I recently had a similar problem in similar weather. Plenty of cranking but no go. I thought it might have been a flooding issue and when I touched the gas pedal there was almost no pedal feel. pumped the gas twice, cranked and ran.I have no idea what the problem may be. it's only happened 2-3 times. Strange.

Next time this happens check for TONS of pressure in your gas tank (pull gas cap, see if air rushes out) If yes then it may be as simple as needing a $17 canister purge valve. The gas cap itself should also be checked to make sure it vents properly.

Also a dirty fuel filter can cause this.....

Have you checked the duel pressure? the intake air temp? and the coolant temp? ( with an OBD II scanner ).
