If I had any idea it would be this hard I would have paid the shop to do it.
I'm putting an EZ-Locker up front on my 94 XLT ( Just trying to keep up with Gerald )
The halfshafts were easy, gotta watch out for that 6mm 12pt bolt that holds part of the ABS sensor to the spindle assemble. I stripped it by using a 6pt socket on that bolt. Ever try to find a 12 pt thinwall 6 mm? Anyway those bolts have been replaced with allen head bolts for much easier access.
Pulling the Dana 35 was a real pain. The drivers side radius arm shields the torque arm bolt so you have to move it out of the way. Yes a lot of stuff has to come off to do that.
The third member is now on my garage floor.
Yea, I can now start the EZ-Locker install. However, I can't get the slide pin out to remove the spider gears. Ford, used a pressed pin to keep the slider pin from coming out. I have to remove the carrier to press the pin out now. Bummer I can't get the carrier out of the case. I'm taking the third member in to have a shop press it out tomorrow. I think I'll have them tap it for a bolt like the rear has so I can have easy access in the future.
I was planning to document this whole process and even started taking pictures. However the cussing got way out of hand and I felt that documenting this would lead others to attempt this install.
( Yes, I'm bummed. I thought I would be done after 10 hours )
