i am new to the explorer, but i think i am happy so far! i just bought a 96 XLT 4D 2WD V8 with full power and leather. i don't think i have been in a more comfortable seat. and it's fast, handles and rides better than i would have thought. (i am a saab fan, love forced induction). not a sports car, but pretty good nonetheless. but i digress....i want to put my 2 10" kicker solobarics with the alpine V12 5 channel. i want to keep the factory head unit (aftermarket Kenwood 10 disc changer already installed using fm modulator) . so what have you run into using the factory head unit to operate external components? anyone use the q logic 10"? your help is appreciated.

bypassing the amp has been discussed MANY MANY MANY times before, please use the search function for this question

Yes, I have this same problem and from visiting other threads on this forum, have found that about the only option is a new head unit. I bought an rca line out converter from WalMart and used that to run my amp (I have a 300w amp and 12" Sony Explod) but the sound quality isn't what it should be. It thumps a bit but not like it should. I'll be replacing my head unit soon.

Another thing to consider: you can sell any stock parts you take out, like the head unit or cd changer (I have the stock one), on Ebay to recoup some of your money.

I will sell a Pioneer DEH-1000 for pretty cheap if either of ya'll want it.

Allenone, if you have the premium sound system (with factory sub) I would be interested in the sub and amp if you are selling. rnewell@base2tech.com

hopeless....factory amp bypass

what a PITA! i still have not gotten it back together. be careful if you try this. i bought the amp bypass kit from best buy and it only fit on one side. i guess there were even more variations on these sytems. i had hoped to get a low level signal from the stock head and run my V12 alpine off of it. you would think that there would be a low level signal coming from the stock head and into the stock amp, but i could only get one speaker to play. when i tried to hook up the others, all i got was popping. i guess i will throw in the towel and put in my sony es cd player...wanted to keep dash stock, i think it looks to good, and the sony lights up RED. i have no sub in this system, it's the middle one........
