I have a 98 sport that did not come with fog lights. I just bought the new lower valance and factory fogs/brackets from a fellow board member.

I went to FordPartsNetworkonline and found theres a factory wiring harness for each fog light. They said each harness plugs into the Main engine compartment wiring harness. Could someone with facotry fog lights please see where the wiring from the fog lights plugs into? I looked around the engine bay and didnt see any place they would just plug into.

I'm not even sure if this is how I want to do it, because really I want to be able to turn my fog lights on whenever I feel like it.

Thanks guys

On my 96 there were harness plugs that hung down on either side of the truck right behind the bumper (or maybe a little above). The foglight extension harnesses plugged in on each side to go to the fogs. My suggestion is to get under the front of the truck on your back and look up. You should see like plugs on each side up behind the bumper or around there. Good luck!

PS: if you want to be able to use them whenever you want, just get an aftermarket light wiring kit (wires, relay, switch) from Autozone for $10 and hook it up to your 'factory' fogs.

bad news

I've went through the same on my old '95 that didn't have factory fog lights. It isn't that simple. There is no place to plug in the fogs, there is no place to plug in the interior switch, there is no wiring for fog lights at all - period. Trust me on this one.

You have to do ALL the wiring yourself. No big deal though. There's plenty of places to tap into the wiring you need.

If you have any questions about wiring, just ask me. I've done this before, and I try to do everything as perfect as possible, just like it came from the factory.

I tried looking up, hes right..theres no place to plug them in! Off to autozone I go!!!!!!
I really do want to do the factory style button though. I know its alot 2 $20 for the factory switch, but ohwell...

My only question is HTF do I cut out the factory radio surround for the button? My other idea being to just cut the SOB, then get a dash kit and nobody will know!
Thanks alot, and dang you guys are fast!

Riddle Me This....

Ok, I had the toolbox in my car anyway......so I took the radio surround off..low and behold there is not only hte plug for the defroster, but also where the foglight wouild be, only theres no hole in surround!! I crawled under the car (Again) but all harnesses appeared to be in use. Anyone with a 98+ wanna crawl under and look for me?

OK Harry, I found what you're talking about..theres an empty plug right behind the air box, comes out from under the wind shield washer and coolant bottles. Still cant find the drivers side....

please, someone please go look and see where the fog light plugs in on the drivers side...

Here's the approx location.

But on the wiring diagram, the two lights are spiced off of the single tan/orange line from the fog lamp relay & the other wires go to ground so you might as well spice it off of the passenger's side.
