I have a 2003 Explorer Sport Trac with the base sound system and would like to upgrade my factory speakers. What is the factory size? I've heard that they were 5.5 X 7.5 and would have to use an adaptor plate to make a proper fit. Are the front and rear the same size? I also upgraded to a Ford factory 6-disc in dash unit, will this make a difference in anything? Any help is appreciated.

I just replaced all 4 factory speakers in my 1994. I don't know if yours is the same size, but i recall that mine were 6"x8". I found them at Wal-Mart, made by pioneer, for maybe $56.00 a pair.

Yeah the size is 6x8. You can find a bunch of direct replacements. No adaptor plates needed.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, I'll let you know what I go with and how they sound. Also have appointment to have Flowmaster 40 Non Delta Series put on Saturday....really excited now!

5x7's also bolt right up without an adapter.
