Factory Strobe Light hole?

I have a 2001 Explorer Sport. I noticed the other day that behind the light there is a hole in the top with a plug in it that goes to the light. I was thinking that this was put in for a strobe light for the police cars. Can someone inform me what this is actually for.

No, I that is for a given amount of air circulation. It lets air out but not in. For fumes and stuff to not blow out your housing from expansion due to heat of the bulb.
