maybe it is connected to something in the back? wish i could help but i dunno about the factory systems

I dont know how it wont come out, but the darn thing seems stuck. It rotates clockwise and counterclockwise but wont pull forward.. Someone help.

oh ur taking off the whole black thing? just make sure all the screws are out and then you have to lift it up because there are little hook things that hook it in. just lift it up and out.

do you mean i have to take off the entire right back panel, and not just the cover thing? So far I have just took off the cover, not the entire panel. I absolutely CANNOT take this thing out! PLEASE HELP. How do I get this thing out?

If the factory sub is mounted the same way my factory pocket was mounted, you will have to take off the entire panel to get to the clips that hold the sub to the panel. I wasn't planning on pugging my pocket back in so I just forced it and broke several of the clips in the process. As a minimum you will have to get the back of the panel pulled away so that you can get to the clips on the back side.

After I pull the panel off, will i be able to place a new sub in the factory enclosure? Alos, can someone tell me how to take the rear panel off? Thanks

Since mine didn't come with a factory sub, I am not sure about that question. I put a Q-Logix box in place of my factory cubby hole. Regarding removing the panel, mine is a Sport model so if yours is a 4-door it will be somewhate different. On my '97 Sport to remove the interior panel you need to remove the 4 seat belt torx bits (#50), three philips screws under the carpet (2 in rear compartment 1 next to rear seat), the two small torx bits that hold the rear flip window bracket to the interior, the small screw that secures the coat hanger to the body (7/32" I think), the plastic floor trim at the back of the hatch, pull the plastic front piece around the front doors away where it covers the rear trim panel and remove all of the plastic buttons. Once all of that is done, the panel can be rocked back and forth and taken out the rear hatch. After having mine in and out probably 10 times, I can get it out in about 20 minutes now.

Robert, how do you have the sub and amp wired?

Thanks.....

Al, I replied to your other thread.

I see, thanks, I screwed up and posted twice.... must be the damn heat.

Robert hit it on the head...

The only way to open up the enclosure that the sub is in is to remove the entire rear panel. Also, if the speaker is blown and you aren't looking to go bigger, I would go to the dealership and get a replacement sub speaker (just the speaker, they do sell them). Otherwise I would pull the factory enclosure and use the space as a place to put an aftermarket amp. That's what I did with my '94.

take the whole rear right panel off. you will have to take off the upper seat belt bolt to get it off. there are 4 screws w/ clips that hold it to the body panel
