Hahaha. I just don't like that at certain frequencies it just cuts out and the bass just dies... I like a solid and full sound all the way up and down... I guess I'm just spoiled... previous car had 2 RF 12" subs... Don't really want to ruin the 3rd row by a huge box being on them...

Nice looking Aviator! I love the GPS Head unit... That'd be way too expensive and I'm not sure how to keep rear DVD functional with an aftermarket head unit...

Are those LED's in the bottom of the headlights? They look nice, do that yourself? I'm thinking about doing V-LED's in the front/rear turn signals...

I'm on the dreaded college budget so extra projects are few and far in between...

I've got to get the Ex cleaned up and take some good pictures

I got the headunit a little over a year ago for $300. It's pretty much the cheapest way into in-dash nav. It also has bluetooth which is really nice. You can see the mic in front of my speedometer in one of the pictures. I'm sure there's a way to keep the DVD functional, but it may not be something you want to get into. I recently install the steering wheel control interface so I could finally use my steering wheel controls again.

The LEDs are the easiest. They're sold at AutoZone and Advanced Auto Parts in 24 to 36 inch strips that just adhere to the bottom of the headlight or wherever. The light that I didn't photograph has about 5 or 6 dim LEDs for some reason. Not sure why, but I'll look into it once it warms up. For all my other LEDs (parking lights, turn signals, puddle lamps, done/reading/cargo lights, footwell lights, mirror turn signals, and license plate lights) I ordered them from superbrightleds.com. Excellent website as they have every type of LED you can imagine. I've purchased $90 worth of LEDs from them, but it would be less for you because Explorers don't have footwell lights, mirror turn signals, and I believe Explorers have one turn signal/parking light bulb per light, while Aviators have two per light.

I'm on the college budget too so I haven't done too much lately. The Aviator won't get a wash until late February when I'm home next, but I have some pictures from the last time I detailed it that I'll throw up and link soon.

I just noticed the Aviator came with heated/cooled seats; I'm so jealous.

Yeah, there's only one 3157 bulb in the rear, I've ordered some cheap LED's on eBay and they just aren't bright at all. I don't like the hyper-blinking either; I haven't looked to locate the flasher in the Ex, but Advanced sells a LED flash unit.

Maybe in a year or so I'll think about taking on changing the head unit. I'm loving the 6-Disc for now. I've got RCA jacks in the Rear DVD, so I just plug my composite cable into the ole iPhone and Voila!

I don't too much care for the switchback bulb, but when the bulb is illuminated in amber, I love it. Here's a video of the switchback on an Ex:

They run $79.99 a pair... Still trying to justify the cost

Don't get your LEDs anywhere but superbrightleds.com. They're so bright, have so many options, and mine blink at normal speed so they're just plug and play.

My old '05 Explorer had the 6-Disc changer with Audiophile which was nice, but my Aviator came with single CD and cassette. A previous owner got an Alpine 6-Disc changer installed, but I never use it because I keep my iPod plugged in.

I've never seen those switch backs before. They look pretty slick. I kinda want them if they make them for Aviators. But if all you want in the Amber, just order a couple amber LEDs from superbrightleds.com and it won't cost you more than 10 bucks or so for 2.

I checked them and they run between 18-25 for one. That's cheaper than the other sites. I'm looking to do the telescoping mod next. Old car had telescoping column but the Ex doesn't..
