Replacing Factory sub

I was wondering if it is possible to replace the factory sub in the back on a 2003 explorer. I heard that you can cut it and fit a 10 inch in there. DOes anyone know or heard anything about this?

I had mine out the other day, I would think the factory plastic sub box might be small for a 10 inch sub, then again Pioneer makes a new line of thin subs to go under back seats in he extend cabs, might be something to look at, I hear they work great. Check with a Pioneer audio shop
