I have a 2000 XLT with about 95,000 miles on it. I have never had any problems, it still looks and drives like new. However a couple of weeks ago, if I would get out and leave the motor running for a minute or stop at a red light, I started hearing a whistling/ whining sound. I didn't think much of it and a friend suggested it could be a radiator leak. I am not losing any coolant. Could it be that the fan clutch needs to be replaced? I think this could cause a noise like that.
