Here is a strange one. I got into my '92 and for some reason the first 4 speeds for the fan wouldn't work. The only one that does is the fastest speed. Anyone know what this is all about? Thanks.

The resistor assembly has a thermal fuse

When this opens, only the high speed works. This part will be the metal looking diode part. These are available from Radio Shack for under $2. They must be crimped in, soldering will make them pop. Sometimes these just get old because they are chemical. Most times they go bad because the motor is drawing too much current or the air flow has been blocked. It is there to protect the resistors from overheating and causing a fire. So even if you put in a new/used asembly, it may go bad if you havent solved the real problem.
