I have a friend that has a 01 Sport Trac. His fan speed only work on 4. 1-3 do nothing. From my experience this is a blower motor resistor problem. However on the Sport track I'm not sure. If it is, where is it located so I can replace it.

Thanks

Since the 01 ST has the same mechanical workings as the 95-01 Explorer, I'd say that the resistor is the culprit. I haven't dealt with this myself, so I can't help with replacement.

Did you search for the resistor problem? I'd venture to guess there is a thread with a how to and pictures.

Ok, so it's the same as the 95-01? Cause of the ST configuration I thought things were located in different places. It has the SOHC 4.0L. I did check by the blower motor for the resistor. I must have missed it. I'll check again.

Be sure and inspect the pigtail for damage. Don't just unplug the old one and plug the new one in. A replacement pigtail is about $13 at the dealership.

Reassemble using solder and shrink tube for the pigtail:

I used some outdoor grade silicone to seal up the back side of the pigtail where the wires enter it, and some dielectric grease on the connector itself. Haven't had a problem since!

Yeah I saw that thread. But things don't rot much in South FL. I'll check it though.
