feels like it's in neutral

My 2007 Ford Explorer sport trac will feel like it goes into neutral while I'm driving and the temp shoots up. A lot of the time if I pull over and restart it does fine. My mechanic thinks it's a computer problem but can't figure it out. It also seems more likely to do this when I run the a/c

Welcome to this forum! Did you check the fluid level in the transmission? Do you have a check engine light or a flashing O/D light?

Check your engine coolant level..may be low

I agree, either low on coolant or the thermostat is stuck or on its way out.
