Alright, i know this is kinda a dopey thing to post a q on, but the thought occurred to me about the fender liners, or more accurately all the stuff that hangs out above them. I see both pros and cons to keeping them.

So heres what im looking for, opinions from people who still have them and those that dont as to why you still have em on there, why you took em off, and what you did to keep all the stuff that normally lays on em tucked up where its supposed to be

My Explorer still has them...yet they are sitting in my garage for my f150, but thats because I'm still dealing with headers leaking:rolleyes:

I have thought of taking them out of the Ex though. I know one thing is if you still have the factory intake, all the crap gets picked up out of the wheel well with them off.

i can help out, i didn't have them, and didn't like all the crap that went up in there, like water in rain, mud splashes, and snow in wither, so, i went and ponied up the 40 $ and got a new set, much cleaner under there now,
so i can give both ends of that story,
without, is messy ,
with keeps it all clean,

I've got a snorkel so i dont need to worry about the intake problems, and had them in and took them out. I had to cut fenders to fit tires and didn't feel like triming liner, so I just took it out. They're sitting in my shed lol

Run them - without is just asking for more crap/trouble under the hood.

I took ours out the 1st time I worked on the heads.. That was around 186k miles.. 200k miles later and I dont' even know where they are anymore..

I love not having them. When I need to work on the truck I just reach over the tire.. I can change my plugs in about 10 minutes.. If something isn't "right" I can just look over the tire and see the side of the engine.. Makes like so much easier..

I don't worry about mud etc as I'm in southern Az and the factory intake snorkle thingy goes to a mount right under the driver side headlight and doesn't seem to pick up anything. I did cover the Heat Risor hose connection on the intake as I haven't had that piece on the manifold in years either.

We run an air filter (factory style, frame paper) and I change it every 2 oil changes just to be safe, especially since Its in the desert and drives 4 miles on a dirt road whenever it leaves the house anyway.

So far, the only disadvantage I see is when it does see mud etc it throws it up into the door hindges.. Other than that the mud actually doesn't seem to go places it shouldn't, including on the engine..

Now, if your in the rust belt etc.. I don't know if having them will help keep snow/salt/ice etc off the exhaust etc.. If it does, then I'd leave it on for people living in that kind of climate. In the dry parts of the country, take 'em off and throw them away..

Mine are gone, it's a pain to clean some spots, but I don't get tire rub and it looks great.

Removed mine when I put on the fiberglass and had to make one for the passenger side. Everytime it would rain the alt would get wet and the battery light would come on.

Let's not forget NJ's rig is in the mid-Atlantic and our off-road parks are not exactly dry most of the time.

One thing that used to bug the crap out of me when i had only had the drivers side skirt was after a big puddle of water on the highway, the water would cool the exhaust on that passenger side and than the Ex would throw a O2 sensor code,,

im in jersey, generally wheel in pa

have the snorkle, so thats not a problem, but i also have a bit of a history of doing really stupid things around mud.

looks like atleast part of em are going back in
