Ok so I did an oil change today- all good.
I then changed the thermostate at last, as I was only ever getting a little above the flat line on the guage, even tho I had heat in the cabin.....I now have the same situation as far as the guage goes!!!!!!
Only differance is- the heat in cabin is much better.

Do not have any air locks as all hoses are hot and so is heater, I can have flow to header tank also!

Any ideas guys, I am suspecting the sender unit behind thermostate- er what do you all think?

For me, as it was running fine before the work, its either an airlock or new thermostat isnt opening properly
to check thermostat, take it out and put it in a pan of water, heat the water up, at a certain temeprature the thermostat should open.
Dont know the exact temperature for an explorer stat though(not much help I know!).
Stats usually have a temp reading stamped on them to say when they open.
Another way to check it is to remove it completely and see what the car does, will take longer to warm up but not overheat if stat is problem

No mate- changed thermo because it was not reaching temp.

sounds like the gauge or the sender unit to me mate check your old stat and if that works fine(ive allways boiled a kettle let it cool for a bit and put the stat in the glass with the water and see if it opens)and the new on works fine then its got to be those two.and check the wireing too just incase.
