OK so this ought to be easy. The Ford manual does not recommend the new long life antifreeze, just the "normal" green stuff with silicates in it. I've looked for "regular" Prestone, Zerez and Quaker State at Auto zone, shucks ( now o'rielly's ) K mart, wall mart and NAPA but the NAPA store closed down or at least that location.
Everybody is pumping the new long life stuff. Anyhow I'm in Idaho and wondered if anyone knew of a chain store or any store that still carried the old stuff.

Anyone with input on the chain store generic brands, AKA O'Rielly's.

Thanks for any input.

I use Prestone from Wal-Mart that says "compatible with all makes, all models, all anti-freezes". It does say "extended life" on the jug but I think that now that IS plain ol' green Prestone.

I checked the prestone site.. kinda looks like they do not make the green stuff anymore. Anyhow I'm not sure yet about the extended life stuff and it's claims to all makes and models. I checked the Zerex web site and they still show an original formula that meets Ford ESE-M97B44-A but finding an auto store that stocks it has been a bit of an issue.

Anyhow I don't know if I'm turning this into more of an issue than it needs to be but if I remember right the extended life formula has plasticisers that can cause issues with the life of the thermostat housing and a lack of silicates.
