I've decided to go with the Flowmaster 50 catback, but every online seller I've looked at shows a single in single out muffler as their kit for a 97 ex. The problem is that mine is a dual in single out.

The closest model year showing a dual in is the set they have for the 2000. Would this be interchangable? Don't want to order a catback with hangers in different locations, or other problems...

Any light to shed on this would be helpful...

Are you just looking for the muffler? Are you willing to have somebody make it fit, or are you looking for an OEM swap?

Pickin's are slim for the DI/SO setup. The problem is that one inlet is a flanged joint, one is a slip joint. I have yet to find one that's a direct bolt-in.

I did, however, find a 50 series that was dual-in single-out that was close to the OEM setup. I took it to a local exhaust shop and they modified it to fit. IIRC, they had to cut the last brace on the cat outlets to spread them out just a hair, then they flanged one of the muffler inlets to attach to the flanged side, and they made a custom adapter to neck the outlet back down to the OEM tailpipe. The muffler was under $100 from the local performance shop, and the install cost me $50 in labor. I was quite happy to say the least. :)

I'd like to be able to to the swap myself. All of the muffler shops in town are way over-priced. I need to do a full catback (the tailpipe is totally rusted out).

The catback recommended for the 2000 ex has one flanged and one slip fit on the inlet side.

I just can't figure out why all these websites would say that a si/so is the system for the 97 when mine is a di/so.

Thanks for the help.
