'98 Explorer Sport OHV
as an owner of a 98 ohv sport, i found that modfications are limited. with this in mind, if you know of anything of a k&N fipk, do tell. let's not waste our time reading this and not respond. I realize there are a ton of threads on this, but they are all for semi-older explorers. If you know if the 97 fipk will fit the 98 ohv, tell me. If you know how to modify the fipk for the sohv to fit the ohv, tell. Let's pray that you decide to share your knowledge.

A 95-97 FIPK or other intake kit will fit your 98 OHV. Most 98+ X's have the SOHC, that's why everything says 95-97 and 98-01. But all 95-97 performance mods should fit your 98 OHV without any problem.

reply to splat

great. I didn't expect a reply back for a few days, so forgive me. I'm in awe. However, i'm a bit curious when you use the word "should" fit, as opposed to "will fit". Maybe I'm just being paranoid about buying the part and then figuring out later on it really doesn't fit. :D But i will take my chances, so I appreciate the reply to my question. thanks again.

I know for a fact that the intake mod will fit, I just used "should" referring to other mods, as I don't know exactly how much they changed components from 97 to 98. Not very much, so most things should work without a problem. Between 97 and 99, Ford built many "hybrid" X's, that is some with new generation components and systems, and some with old. For instance, my gf has a late 98 automatic X, which should have the SOHC drivetrain. However, it's OHV with the 4R55E. Weird.

Anyway, good luck!
