i was wondering how many of yall have ever replaced your engine and transmission mounts...

Any problems you guys run into?

Are their any brands that are recommended over another?

how long did this process take?

im digging deep to fix this knocking i get under load. i just rebuilt the suspention (new bushings, ball joints, tierod ends) and the axles (new bearings, 4.56 gears), hoping it might fix it. which it didnt, but it fixed everything else!

so all i got left is the engine, transmission and transfer case. i discovered the other day the knocking seemed to correlate with heavy movement of the shifter (transmission) when it was under load. so im guessing its a bad mount.

Sure, it's not hard to replace any of them.
Napa, Carquest or Ford can get you the engine mounts, they are like $25 each I think?
The trans mount is the same way, the stock trans mount does not hold up so well to abuse :)

Autofab makes 4.0L engine and transmission mounts for your truck that are urethane and alot heavier duty then the factory units, but might be overkill :)

Believe it or not you might want to check your exhaust at the rear by the leaf spring shackle. It drove me crazy thinking it was a engine/trans mount, but instead it was the exhaust torqing and hitting the shackle bolt - it didn't look like it could flex that far but it was.

overkill sounds great!... thanks man

actually i have my shackles of my leaf springs off at the momment (those rear bushings are a BYOTCH!). But thats a good idea, i need to check on that. i wonder if i could use some gear marking compound and pour it all over the exhuast.

dude i checked out autofab, that is definatly overkill! haha i want it though, i mean **** hahaha... never have to worry about those things going again.

ima try napa haha
