Fitment Issues when Lowering...

Hey folks, I'm trying to lower my 91 Explorer 2WD. I'm putting a 302 and an AOD in it, so I know there will be some clearance issues when I lower it. I'm trying to lower it 2" all the way around. The clearance issue is going to be with the AOD, at least that's what I'm thinking. Is there a way I can make more clearance for the AOD? Maybe pound the living hell out of the firewall or cut a section of it out and weld in a rounded piece? I really want to do this, so if anybody has any info, let me know. Thanks in advance...

I can't imagine that 2 inches would create clearance problems. I believe you can throw a set of 3rd gen Ranger lowered springs in and be done with it.
