Okay, I did some searching but I couldn't find any posts about the five speed auto that is currently offered in the Ranger and is in my truck. So I was wondering if any of you people have had any experience with this transmission and if it's as cruddy as the old four speed? I know it has a tranny cooler and my truck is rated to tow slightly more than 5000 pounds where the 5 speed manual is only rated at about 2800 and this leads me to believe that it might be pretty beefy.

Any input fellows? Thanks in advance and I will keep searching.

It's a much better trans than the old A4LD, but still not as beefy as the E4OD used behind the full-size trucks. Don't drown it in the water, and keep the fluid clean, and you won't have any major issues. Most people go multiple-hundreds of thousands of miles before they need any work, and parts are becoming more and more available for them every day.

Thankyou for the in put, maybe I should have gotten the standard as I normaly run in mud. It's good to know that it's not a junker tranny and I'll treat it as I would any of my other auto's.
