Well since I have owned my Explorer 2 years now I have always had this annoying clunking noise from the front driver side when ever I would go over bumps in the road. My father inlaw is a mechanic at the local ford dealership and it had him confused to. Well we just got about a foot of snow here and I went playing around and broke my driver side sway bar link snapped it in half. I got replaced it yesterday and the clunking noise is gone. So my father inlaw told me that the bolt inside the link must have been broke for a while and it finally snapped good thing it did now I don't have to worry about it any more.
So if anybody has a clunking noise that they can't figure out try replacing the sway bar link it was 15$ dollars at AutoZone. My father inlaw said buy it from the Auto store because ford sells it in a kit for 40$ and the one from the Auto store would be the same but cheaper. I hope this helps some people with an annoying clunking noise.
