Flames

This isn't about being legal or not...consider the risk of doing it wrong. Certain mods can be done by a novice without risking too much. Flames are not a mod for a novice. You risk blowing up your car. There's no other mod I can think of that has this kind of potential.

Also, insurance probably won't cover anything when it goes bad.

What about NOS wouldn't that be just as bad

Nitrous oxide isn't flammable until you mix it with a fuel such as propane or gasoline. It is dangerous to the motor if you don't install it right or have the right air/fuel mix, but it rarely causes an explosion. A fuel line running to the exhaust is much more dangerous, as is raw gas going through the exhaust.

NOS? What's NOS? I thought this was a forum for Explorers, not rice burners.

NOS isn't even a mod in my book. I suppose, if you were the type of person who'd want to dink around with that stuff, and you don't know what you're doing, it could be somewhat dangerous. I guess the flame thing, if done wrong, has the potential to not only blow up your car, but maybe other cars as well.

You can dis NOS, but don't dis nitrous oxide, I had it for a while.

But yes, NOS is just a brand name. Proper shorthand for nitrous oxide is N2O.

I use GAS and AIR to get my butt around town. The right combination of GAS and AIR, and a few mechanical upgrades, and you're hauling butt, not just getting around.

Don't do drugs. I see you've kicked the habit. Good for you. Just say no to N2O. :D

ok its dangerous and it could blow up. ya but only to stupid people that have NO COMMON SENSE. acouple things to be carefull about is where the flame comes out what direction its firing out and ho wmuch fuel you push thru it. its like a small lighter. you let it out slow the flame is perfectly containable, BUT throw it in the wire and when it breaks open POOF you got your self alittle explosion. same thing with your gas tank. it just takes comon sense. if you dont have it DONT EVEN TRY IT. :D

to an earlier reply:

-the unburned fuel that is sent through the motor damages it by dissolving the oil, causing friction. you should at least try to change your oil more frequently if you hook up the flame kit.

my old man had them on a chevelle a while back.
the dapth range to place the plugs into your pipes is between 3 and 6 inches. your preference will determine flame size, and shape. you can use a die (dye) to thread your pipes so the plugs screw right in. get plugs with the right sized shafts, so they reach the center of your pipes. also, be aware of coil locations compared to gas tank location

What most people get wring is what nitrous does. The nitrogen has nothing to do with the added power. nitrogen just makes a great carrier for the oxygen.

also another way to put the spark plug in and extention so you dont look like a retard while not in use. get a extension pipe at autozone thats at least a foot or two long. put the pipe in the exesting pipe dill a hole all the way thru it and use a locking pin. to put threw and hold it on. im not sure what that pin is called but its just a shaft like thing that has a U shaped wire on the end that wraps around the pipe and over the shaft again to hold it from coming off. and what i did for the spark plug get a nut that has the right threads for the spark plug drill a hole into the pipe and just weld the nut into place. just make sure you weld up all the gaps where the spark plug go.
so then your set after runing a wire to the tip. now you can just pull the pin and take off the full extention with the plug and put it in the trunk. lets face it that looks funny during the day, and sticks out preaty far from your car for pure saftly reasons. mainly keeping the flame away from your car, from buring the paint off your car. and then just tuck the wire up under he dumper and it would look preaty normal other than the drilled holes in the pipe now.
