While driving on the highway, my low range and high range indicator lights started flashing,6 times then paused for about 2 min, and started again.
Truck runs fine though,anyone know what this is? My obd2 wont pick it up.

I'm pretty sure that your OBD II doesn't indicate through the 4x4 lights. i could be wrong but i haven't read it on here. but if your 4x4 is flashing, then that would lead me to presume a problem with your T-case, I would check to see if it will shift into 4-hi, and 4low to make sure that your shift motor or something like that is not shot. but i'm unsure of what the blinking and static means.
Sorry if this did not help, in anycase, welcome to the forum.

I remember reading a cpl different things that could cause a code like that;
1. you have a hall-effect (wheel) speed sensor bad or dirty or
2. The one of the trans. wiring harness connectors has corroded terminals and they need to be cleaned/repaired. At least a couple of those things you can check yourself :)

The only way to retrieve the GEM DTC's is with a scanner capable of retrieving GEM DTC's. The ones they loan at AutoZone won't be able to do it. Any dealership (and many good independent shops) can... for a fee, of course. Without knowing exactly what code is stored, determining the cause of the failure is a guessing game at best. At any rate, it's not time for a shift motor rebuild.

Now, that being said, on your 99, the most common culprit is the speed sensor on the rear axle or its associated wiring. It's exposed to a lot of weather, and it's not uncommon for them to up and quit at random times. It's a $15 part, takes maybe 20 minutes to change, and fixes the problem about 3/4 of the time. If it doesn't fix it, you're only $15 lighter in the wallet and it only cost you 20 minutes off your life. :)
