flomaster mufflers

Being i live on a small island with a population of 9,000 and a police force of over 100, its silly. The whole island is only 4 miles long and is full of old people.

Before my road raging days, i rode my bike from A --> B, back in those days 3-5 cops would show up if you didn't have a bike helmet on. I AM NOT EVEN KIDDING. I had 7 show up when i got caught wreck-less driving!

Jersey is just ridiculous, and not to mention the insurance rates.

1980 a year for minimum coverage!!!!!!

I hate jersey thank god im going to phily soon.

i have a 92 xlt and i literally just got back to my house from my friends house where his dad welded a 40 series flow on my x(which is close to stock). the thing is, is that i cut off the whole atock exhaust from the muffler back and got the flow on there with nothing else after it. i love it! brings a smile to my face whenever i hit the gas. i suggest you run yours with a 40 series with nothong after it its not too lound or anything but it is noticable

a men to that im sick of these punks gettin away with it in their rice burners but we get nailed for to loud of an exhaust system or to high suspension or to big of tires what ever they can find to get us country boys

same here i got no cat and my whole exhaust system is about 4 ft long if that just from the manifold then a lil pipe then my 40 series comes out right behind my cab lol:D

We have a flowmaster on ours..

stock manifold, high flow cat (had to replace the old stock one that was banged up from wheeling). 2.5" pipe to the muffler, then 2.5 our the back (almost stock position) with no resonator.

here is a .wav I ripped from a vid of the explorer slowly climbing a hill.

Here is the vid I ripped it from so it can make sense

I don't know which flowmaster it is, but it was the cheapest flowmaster I could get (Its a 40, thats all I know about it).

It does resonate in the truck at about 2700-3000 rpms but at 2000 rpms its quiet (freeway cruising rpm for us).

i totally agree with you mikeinri i had the cops come to my house for starting my fourwheeler in my own yard. its rediculous it was even in the middle of the day.

got the stock cat..and bolted on a 40 series behind it..got rid of the resonator and tailpipe..i gotta turndown..i got the iFab intake too..sounds good i liek it, no performance tho

100 cops, 9000 people??? Man the property taxes there must be killer!!!

Oh and I have Borla Stingers on my Mustang, and the Ex is bone stock. C'mon it's a pushrod 6 banger

(sigh) i hate jersey.

heh, property taxes are around 6000-15000, depending on your home size and build date, we own two and both are in the 6-10 range, its just silly..

And i get to add ANOTHER GODDAMN CITATION to the list.

Yesterday i went on the local beach to check it out and of course it was dry and like sugar sand so i had to punch it in a few area to ensure i would not get stranded....well of course the a-hole old people who love on the beach block called to cops on me.

So the cop comes on down to the beach and gets stuck cause hes in a dodge durango(with its entier 7 inches of ground clearance).

He then asked me to tow him out(thinking i could avoid a ticket by doing this, i did) but the A-HOLE still gave me a noise violation ticket!!!

I HATE JERSEY!

Hahaha... Jesus, that sucks... I'm pretty sure if I tried going on the beach out here I'd get a citation for "defacing public property" or something of the sort... I love driving through the mud, and some of the fields or parks around here get nicely waterlogged...

hey...could have been worse....

yea you have to make sure to take that damn resonator off. dont waste your money on a flowmaster if you are gonna leave that on there it kills it. i personally think it sounds perfect with nothing after the flow on. however, my flow is kinda hanging down right now. i got a hanger for it from local auto store and it's on the outlet but i cant find a place to bolt the top of the hanger. the stock hanger is about a foot and a half back so i cant do it on that one. the hanger is a parrt you clamp on the outlet, a little rubber hanger part, and a long piece of metal with a bunch of holes in it to bolt it somewhere. somebody help?!?

Personally, I love the tone of my shredded stock muffler... it's got a huge hole that starts at the back end of the muffler and extends about two inches forward, and covers the entire bottom half of the muffler (and I'm not exaggerating in the slightest). It's got a nice throb it it at idle, and it roars nicely when I tap the gas, but it gets a bit whiney after 2,500 RPM or so... I'm taking my full license test in less than a month though, so I need to replace it quickstyle with a new muffler, else I can't take my test...

Is taking the resonator off a good idea? I was considering it, but I wasn't sure if it would change very much... also, I've got a nasty ticking coming from the engine bay that I thought was valve tick, but learnt recently that it could just be a symptom of a cracked header or blown exhaust gasket or something... anyone have any input on that?

yea as far as i know the resonater is there solely for the purpose of quieting the sound. when that and stock tailpipe cam off i was so surprised on how good my x sounded with the new flow on it. i had low expectations because it was my first up close experience of before/after muffler and i am in love with it now.

#### that cop man i woulda left him there and been like well if you can get out try and catch me and run lol or somthing like that thats bullshit man just to show you what some cops are like

MY Super 40 has nothing after it,. NOTHING. Literally its just the outlet hole and a 10 inch straight tube, lol.

I know thats illegal/unsafe for about 5,648 reasons, but I don't care.

And to add to the funny, were getting about 2-5 inches of snow today(thats alot for S-Jersey) and I just watched that Durango ******* pull over a jeep wrangler for doing a SINGLE donut, lmao.

And I know he'll get a ticket for it; sadd too, the guy in the jeep is a Coast Guard Chopper Pilot.

But thats jersey for you, Wayyyyyy to many cops per capita.

and just so there no confusion, i love the police and what they do, alot of my family are in the force, but i just dislike cops who give tickets for dumb-****, like riding your bike on the sidewalk(I'm not even kidding!!)

Agreed... sometimes the cops here can be assholes, but most of the times they're fairly good. It seems to me that most of them here don't want to give people tickets... they just want to make their presence known to people around to discourage illegal activities and reassure the general population...

Then again, I remember a few years ago I had gone for a walk up the street to a 7-11... it was about a 30 minute walk each way, and I bought some Dad's Root Beer when I was there... I was walking back and listening to music on headphones, holding my bottle, and I'm disabled so I walk with a bit of a limp... I got stopped by the police and searched because they thought I was drunk in public... personally I find it somewhat amusing, although not everyone would...

got a speeding, helmet, reckless driving, and unsafe vehicle on my bicycle.........come on.......
