I installed a Flowmaster 40 series, single in single out, 2.5 in and 2.5 out on my 98 Sport OHV about a month ago. I had everything done in 2.5" pipe from the catback. The shop did a great job of making an extension pipe to fit the cat for a seemless transition. The pipe comes out behind the rear tire, not where I wanted, but it still looks good. The thing I was worried about was the drone of the 40 series. This is the original 40, not the delta or super 40. When I first started it, it was awesome, real deep throaty idle, like you would find on a much bigger motor. Its loud, but not obnoxiously loud. Now for the drone, or I should say lack of. There is no drone at all in the cab, none. I can have a standard conversation with no yelling or screaming at eachother. I wish I had the ability to record it and post it, but I don't have the equipment to do so. I had a dynomax system on there previously, and well, I still felt a little seat of the pants increase in power. Especially on the low end. It launches better than before. So far this muffler is exactly what I wanted with nothing I didn't want. Just thought I'd give a quick review of what I had and what I thought about it.

I got the same one on my 98 OHV. Nice tone to it.

so the 40 series has no drone to it?

Not on my 98 OHV. It could be the size of the tube, but otherwise it looks almost stock. The SOHC may be different though. So far Im loving the sound.

Methinks "drone" is in the ear of the be-hear-er.... Drone to some folks is most likely music to others.

If I could get sound clips of the interior while driving, I would. I'm not saying its not louder than stock inside, it is, but not a whole lot. The sound inside is not at all overpowering. Driving down the road, I can actually hear the hum of the tires more than the exhaust unless I really get on it.

my only worry is when i am cruising on the highway or in the city i cannot hear the person I am talking to, other than that i do not care

How much did this set you back?

I paid $220 installed for the muffler and pipes. As I said, I don't have a problem with having a normal conversation. I think my girlfriends camera takes video, so I will see if it does audio as well. If it does I will get some sound clips or videos with sound.
