I have heard several guys, especially mikeresin and jimabena say that their 40 series is extremely loud and they even set off car alarms. I have a 40 series, non delta flow, and maybe our perception of sound is different, but mine is just not very loud!! I hate it!! I realize that I don't have a V8, but apparently it is possible to create some serious noise with this exhaust. Mikeresin and jimabena, or anyone else, could you tell me your secret to obnoxious exhaust??

are you SURE you don't have the deltaflow version? you can see the delat welds on the side of the can, looks kinda like this (in)[ <<<](out)

i gotta guess that if its quiet, you have the delta.

I'll hafta look at the welds, but i specifically asked for non delta flow.

well how long ago did you get it?
alot of exhaust places will tell you its a non-delta but it is. they stopped makeing the non-delta like a year ago.

mine isnt all that loud normally either. but niether me or jimabena have tail pipes. cut the pipe off and have it dump 2 inches out of the muffler. i guarentee it will be alot louder.

by the way if it is a delta you can buy a used non-delta on ebay or watever for like 25 bucks

i got my non delta from a local hi performance muscle car shop..... my exit pipe is 2.25" and dumps 6" behind the muffler...the shorter the exit pipe and bigger the exit pipe diameter equals a louder exhuast....

yeh mine is 2.25 and 2inches out of the muffler. =P

I picked up a FLO- PRO 2.5 muffler and a 2.5 pipe/exit. It sounds really cool and i got a few hp's out of it.

Thanks a lot guys! By the way, is it legal to have no tail pipe? I'm more curious than anything, it's not like the law would keep me from doing it. And if i did buy a non delta flow off ebay or something, is it 2.25 in and out?

doesnt matter what size the ins and outs are, exhuast shops can do anything with pipe
and no its illegal to have no tail pipe.

there are a couple of shops that have the nondelta 40 available. i saw one this weekend.

actually it IS ILLEGAL, well kinda.... if you have a passenger vehicle, the exhuast must exit at or behind the rear axle or passenger cabin....

yeh i know. but oh well. most cops dont even know about that law and arnt going to look under my car. im not worried about it.

in VA i couldnt get my x to pass insection because i was in between exhaust configurations. te inspector told me that i could get a ticket for not having the tip exit behind the rear wheel or the bumper.

the inspector was right... it is a federal violation to not have an exit behind the rear wheel or passenger cabin...the only time you will most likely be called on it is at inspection time like mike said.... most cops dont know about the exit pipe law...

What about cars that come from the factory with forward-exit exhausts like Cobra Rs or Vipers? How do they get around it? Or is that what you were talking about with exiting behind the passenger cabin?

technically those are illegal too.... but they didnt modify their exhuast so it is legal..... damn laws..go figure :smoke:

i have a question.. im looking to get a 50 series flowmaster ... whats the difference between the delta flow and the non delta flow???

thanks

delta flow has thicker walls. makes it quieter. non-delta is louder.

how do i know which muffler to get.. it seems as if the inlets and the outlets are possioned in different places...(middle, top)
thanks
