I haven't gotten many respnses in the other forum so I'll try here. I've decided on a 50 series Flowmaster for my 5.0L, but I'm not sure if I should go with the single 3" outlet or the dual 2 1/4" outlets. Which would be better for sound?? I assume performance would be the same, and I also guess that it would be more expensive to make two tailpipes. Both mufflers are $90 in Jegs, and they are Street mufflers, not Delta Flow. Any suggestions?? Thanks!!

Well, I think I am going to HAVE to use the 3" outlet 50 series, I took the X to a shop today to get an estimite on each tailpipe setup I was going for, and I didn't realize that the aftermarket hitch on my X is gonna make it impossible to use dual tailpipes, there is no way they are gonna fit. The shop can only bend pipe up tp 2.5", so I'm gonna have to try somewhere else. Boy it looks tight under there, I don't know if a 3" tailpipe will even fit. I may have to just get a turndown and dump the exhaust in front of the rear end, but I don't wanna do that.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me if a 3" tailpipe will fit in where the stock tailpipe is now?!?!? My stock exhaust is leaking pretty bad and I wanna order a Flowmaster, I don't wanna have problems installing it though.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

if i'm not mistaken you can do duals that come out just behind each wheel and point a little out to the side vs straight back. i would look around for another shop if i were you...those guys sound like they're too lazy to spend the time to make ya happy. i've seen it done before so no worries. if i were you i'd take it to a small shop not a national chain and see if that works for ya.

Yeah, check around. Someone should be able to fit a dual back there. REmember, they don't have to use the factory path for the pipes. If they get creative, they should be able to work it out. Just check around at other shops.

I have dual exhaust with a flowmaster 50 SUV muffler and the shop didnt have a problem making it. The pipe on the right comes out the same exact way as stock and the same on the other side. I dont see how your hitch will be in the way.

hell yeah, that's EXACTLY how I want my X set up!! I guess I will try a few more places, btw, what size tips are you running there?? If u don't mind me asking, how much did they charge you for that setup?? also, I see u have a sohc, and I have a 5.0, but that shouldn't make a diffrence right, both X's SHOULD be the same underneth. Thanks a lot!!

Yeah, the SOHC and the V8 both have the same exhaust system. I had all the pipes custom bent using 2 1/4" pipes. The bends are not mandrel. The muffler cost me $120, tips were $45 each (stainless steel 3"), $120 for the pipe and somewhere between $75 and $100 for labor, can't remember. I still have my spare tire in there incase they tell you it has to come out. Good luck.

damn man my system much like yours was only 320.

Thats one thing I dont understand... everyone else on this board says they got their exhaust systems for extrememly good prices. This was the cheapest place out of 5 that I went to. I know someone that paid $520 for duals. I spent $90 just for tips... I went with stainless steel instead of chrome. How much did your tips cost and what are they made out of?

they were stainless and they were 60 for both.

Which ever you decide to go with I would recomend going with 2.5 tail pipe.
