hey all, im thinking about putting a flowmaster super 40 on my '98 4.0 SOHC. it sounds pretty nice, and not a bad price for the muffler either. i was wonering if i could hack the old muffler off, put the new one in, and just use the stock pipe to the rear of the truck. would this sound as good as one with an aftermarket exhaust tip on it?

thanks

You could definitely go that route using your stock pipes, most of the time tips don't really do much but add a nice look to it.

ok cool. that should be pretty bad ass

will it sound a lot throatier with that muffler? compared to stock? with the stock pipe?

it will give it a nice tone. but dont expect a v8 sound .. you should like it tho. i got the american thunder 40 series on mine w/stock pipe. i like it.

ok thanks, i liked the super 40 better compared to the american thunder. i thought it sounded better personally. thanks for your input
