well normally if the cat is busted on you bang on it and it rattles. well they didnt rattle. the guy said the heat shield looked a little loose. but the the sound doesnt sound like its metal rattleing it sounds like a rice burner. its just all high pitched and not throaty anymore. i dont know why.

ive got a 4.o and i just put the flowmaster force ll kit
its not real loud but it made it sound like a v-8 and is throaty and loud at high rpms and i could really feel the power increace when 4x4in

Hmm.. my problem was the heat shield. Those things are known to make a racket... but other than that.. did you ever have your cats replaced? My muffler sounded terrible untill I got a high flow. (I was embarrassed driver around too.. it sounded like my car was farting)

Does the 40 series sound good or does it just sound like you lost your muffler? Is there much of a power difference between the two.

ill have to get it this weekend i ende up on the road all last night my ucle broke down and i had to go get him and tow him over 60 miles back to the house. im pumped on this project.

Anyone have a 50 Delta with single in and dual out? Wonder how that'd sound? I like the look of dual tailpipes and want to get a bit better sound but not too loud. Any thoughts?

my friend's toyota 4cyl has one and it isnt anythign but a little louder than stock. he likes it but i think it would sound better on an ex.

i had to do some work on my heat shield to ge tmine to stop rattling. also i have gabriel shocks with the metal tube shield and it had come loose and was ringing like a bell. it was so annoying.

maybe its one of your fakie tips.

only one is fake. kinda, well i chopped it. one is fake and one is half fake. yeh the guy said the heat shield looked like it had been hit on something and was a little loose. he didnt offer to fix it though. that ass.

get your hammer and a screw driver and hammer get your pliers and bend it up. the are a couple screws you could check. i bent mine until i had no mare rattle.

i lowered the tire and got up in there as far as i could. i didnt have to jack it but it wouldnt hurt to give you some room.
youll get it. actually im thinking about it i used soem vise grips and tightend them all the way down and had to put a decent amount of pressure to bend the shield.

would just removing the heatshield be bad? i dont really care if it warms up the car a little bit.... but would it be bad to remove it? like will cause broken parts?

no its just there to keep heat out. it is bolted to the bottom of the body. theres nothign too special about it.

well i took it back in today and the heatsheilds are tight as hell. and i fixed the sound. becuase of the gap in the pipe i was getting the sound of haveing no pipe but there weas still some exaust comeing out of the tip and makeing noise also. so i had both tones and it sounded funny. also the popping was the exaust mixing with the cold air in the pipe. i had them cut the pipe back alot farther so the exhuast doesnt go in it. sounds great now =)

okay i got my wife to get in the x and rev while i recorded it. i ran a mic with a 20 foot cord to my mixer which is set up next to my computer as part of my mini studio. i had to back up th e ex onto the steps of the front porch. i placed the mic on a stand about 4 feet directly behind the bumper.

the one thing that i have to say is my wife held her foot on the gas inbetween revs but didnt ever rev all of the way. there was alot of distortio in the file but i never had a good blance between low distortion and equal sound. the other thing is that the sound reverbs alot off the porch it sounds like it in a bucket.
