ok, I just brought my car to the dealer to have the rear dif fluid changed. I also had them look into a rattle i was hearing while in drive and not moving and sometimes when under acceleration in lower gears. They told me that it needs a flywheel. Anyone know why a flyweel would make this noise? I just had my tranny replaced two months ago and then the torque converter in that new tranny last month. ugh:eek:

does it sound like a heat shield rattle noise??if thats the case the dealer told me it was the torque converter so now i dont know wether to believe them or not.

well, previously they had replaced the torque converter but it still made the noise. after speaking to the service manager, he said they do see the problem stress cracks around the flyweel mount bolts and it would make a heat shield type noise. If they do end up doing the torque converter, make sure they pay special attention to the flywheel so you dont end up in the same predicament as im in

my problem can very well be just the flywheel and not the converter.the truck shifts and runs beautifull.just the rattling noise is driving me crazy, especially when your close to a building like a drive thru you can really hear it.

Sounds like the same thing, the truck shifts great. I was quoted around $800 for the flywheel and was told i didnt have to do it immediatly because it will not harm anything. flywheel stress cracks dont sound good though

stupied question why did they have to replace the converter? was it making noise or was it not acting right like not shifting right, banging or chatter??????

it would chatter and give me a shudder the first time it shifted in the morning and then it would be fine
