Has anyone adjusted the fog lights on a '99?

I was not aware that there was an adjuster on these lights until I had to replace one housing.

i am not 100% sure..but when i replaced one in my grandpas '01 sport trac(i am pretty sure they sure the same light) there was that screw on the back there that was sticking out. i used it to get it to the right postition.

The adjustment appears to only be for up and down and no provision for side to side adjustment.

oh thats what you wanted? lol sorry..yeah as far as i know it is only got up/down..sorry i should have read better.

It is only up and down, at level at 20 ft mark the center position of your low beams on a wall, the fogs should be adjusted to aim 4 inches below the low beam centerline

Actually, the beam should be 4" lower than the fog light itself at 25'. Cheating up a couple of inches doesnt produce "flashes" from oncomming drivers.

Thanks for the information. I plan to adjust mine as soon as the new bumper is on.

Yes, every time I try out a new set.

After it got dark tonight, I backed the truck down the driveway until my fog lights were 25 feet from the garage door.

I measured 25 feet from the center of each fog light to the garage door and put a painters blue tape mark for each light per S.A.E. standard J583. The picture below is from PIAA’s web site ( http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/LightAimingGuide.html )

Next, I lay down on a creeper by the front driver’s side tire and inserted a flat blade screwdriver into the adjusting screw and turned clockwise until the beam was 4 inches below the tape. Then I repeated for the other side. This took about a minute on each side.

A test drive was done to check the beam pattern. This revealed a vastly improved light coverage.

But I figured that maybe I could a little better by aiming the lights at 2 inches below the mark on the garage door. I adjusted them and took a test drive. This aim was a better pattern for me.

I took a short drive on SR 72 to see if I would get “flashed”; not a single time. I left the fog lights in this position.

If you haven’t adjusted the aim of your fog lights, I highly recommend this effortless task.
