Hi, I searched around but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for so yea...

I have a '96 Explorer Sport and my fog light holder piece seemed to snap off (mainly because it's rusted). The piece that I'm talking about is the metal part that holds the fog light case (which has the bulb inside).

I was wondering if I could fix this myself by buying the metal piece and the fog light case or if this needs to be a "professionally" done job. If I do it myself then the main problem is, I'm not sure what metal piece I need to buy and not exactly sure how to attach it (probably could figure it out though).

Any help would be appreciated (guides would be great too!)! Thanks!

Have you even taken a look at it? It simply bolts to the bumper with two bolts. I bought a bumper cover, spare tire mount, and foglight and mounting bracket from a junk yard for 30 bucks, so ten bucks for the foglight and bracket, prolly 5 bucks for the bracket, or if you're creative you can get one for free.

I agree. Also, check eBay. There are many people parting out Explorers, just shoot one or two an email and see if they have any.

Oh, I didn't see the two screws, thought it was part of the bumper itself.

Thanks a lot, it'll save me a couple bucks from the mechanic :)

Mine broke as well. The fog light bouncing around in the lower valance gave it away...

I removed the light housing that was being held in place by the wire harness and removed the piece of bracket that slides into the housing. I unbolted the other half of the bracket from the frame and then clamped the pieces together with a generous helping of epoxy. That was a couple of years ago and it is still holding on.

My bracket is all rusted up, you could litterally touch it and pieces will crumble off. About 2/3 of the bracket is lost somewhere on the streets and the housing cover is somewhere there too.

I'm planning on heading over to the junkyard soon and picking up a new bracket and case.

They are all rusy like that.. its a pathetically easy job.. you just have to troll around the junkyard until you find a better one, but don't expect anything new. close your mouth and wear glasses when you are under the bumper.

You can also check out LMC Truck Catalog or www.lmctruck.com

Turdle had spoken highly of them, I was surprised by the amount of parts they have available for the 2nd gens.

Is $50 a good price for everything new? Or should I just go with a used one from the junkyard?

Sorta new to car parts and everything...

That seems pretty decent, but like I said you can probably pick one up for around 8-15 bucks at a junk yard, light and all :)

I'm lucky to work on California cars :) no rust!

I would love that. All the rain and stuff here makes metal rust fast unless you're constantly on top of things... :(
