hey guys...
i have the limited version of the explorer
and i noticed that the driver's side fog light is getting kinda hazy.. i looked up close, and i found that the bulb broke inside there, i guess too much heat..
now i wanna take the whole light off,, i know that u would have to remove the bumper.. so what i found is that there are like 3 small bolts that u can unscrew from each tire well... i tried that.. and nothing.. is there anything else hidden... is there a better way to remove the whole essembly to clean it, and remove the broken part, and put it back...

thanx

i dont think you have to remove the bumper. just get under there, and unscrew those 3 bolts.

well i tried that too.. the thing is that those 3 screws are right behind the bumper (i mean where the openning of the fog light)
and there is nothing that i can squeeze in there to loosen them... thats why i was told to remove the bumper
unless there is an easier way to reach those front screws without actually breaking or cracking that bumper area....

thanx

The lense is glued on to the body I am almost positive

no dude.. the fogs in my explorer have screws, or bolts.. i think there are 3 on each...

hey guys
i know it is has been a while
but i am still having a problem removing the darn fog light... it is held by 3 bolts, but i cant reach because the bumper is covering that area up..
the lens is not glued to the bumper that i know for sure

is there an easier way to loosen those bolts without the need of removing the whole bumper, which i cant,,, i mean is there a special tool or anything that i can use?

thanx

Remove the fog lamp assembly.
Disconnect the fog lamp bulb electrical connector.
Remove the bolts.
Remove the fog lamp assembly.
If necessary, transfer the fog lamp bulb to the new fog lamp assembly.

cool..so basically i am doing all this from the inside part, right? not from the outside?
and based on this pic u posted... bolts that are marked (2), i can reach them from the inside part? and once those are loose, then the whole thing can be pulled off?

thanx again

The whole thing can be pulled off after removing the bolts. I have done it numerous times. Just make sure to disconnect the wires.

I've been having the same problem on the drivers side with the bulbs blowing out. After looking at the lense it looks a little crudy in there. Obviously moisture is the problem, now is there a way to take the fog light apart after getting it out and resealing it or would I just need to replace it?

Yes, just take it apart. There are only a faw screws and plastic tabs. Clear silicone should be able to do the trick.

ok, i got the 3 screws off, now the bottom part of the fog light, is loose, but it wont come off completly..like something is still holding it from either the top, or the side...any ideas... ???

Did you get the one on the bumper? There are plastic pins that help align the assembly on the metal top plate, so you might have to work it a little.

i guess so.. i mean there were 2 the i did remove from the inside, and the bottom one, is actually removed from the bottom of the bumper... is there another?

anything else i need to do to remove that thing?

There shouldn't be.

ok,, those plastic pins,, where r they exactly.. coz i just looked and i cant see them.. is this something that i need to get under the car for to see them?

thanx

here is what i found out..
if u r looking directly behind the fog light.. there is a hidden screw on the right handside, and to unscrew that thing, u would have to reach behind that upper plate, and i would tell, it is a ***** to reach... i couldnt remove it yet, but thats whats holding the foglight after removing the other 3...

There wasn't a screw on mine, so thats interesting.

Glad you figured it out.
