GinaGem:" I don't understand why people don't get their new tires too. I mean, they're FREE"

Well Gina, as FREE as the tires are, there's still a waiting list involved. I had to wait about a month for them to call me, and that's already quite a short waiting period.
If you're talking about about coughing up the cash up front and then getting a reimbursement from Ford? Well...there are a lot of people out there who have bills to take care of, children to feed, tuition to pay. If it means waiting for a dealer to call you in so that you won't have to fork out ANY cash upfront, then it'll have to do.

i don't understand what everyone is so paranoid about. While I do inspect my tires I still feel safe driving on them. I think that some of the accidents are caused by the tires getting way too hot. I think people are driving these tires faster than the speed rating and for long times. I read about one accident where the guy drove about 3 or 4 hours at 90+mph before he had a tread separation. (That was in Florida) I have also talked to others who say that the Explorer has an Oversteer problem which means that when someone panics and overcorrects the X allows them to turn the wheel too fast. Most cars limit the amount you can correct. (That is what I heard from someone)

ford should cut you a check for ANY tire you want. i am waiting for tirerack to get my wrangler at/s 31"s in

Causion

I'm still on my Firestones. I'm waiting til I do my suspension before I get tires, so i can get them bigger. Meanwhile I'm getting a license plate frame that says

"CAUTION"

"Firestones in Use!""CAUTION"

Tires

I dont think just because you have Firestones on your Explorer, its automatically going to roll over and explode. My Brother in Law wore out 2 sets of Wilderness ATs on the X I have now with no problems.
Look at all the other makes on the road now with the same tires. I dont see them having problems.
I dont see why one particular vehicle has problems, and it is viewed as a tire caused death trap.
How much do you want to bet, that if the media keeps up with it, you will still see Xplorers blowing tires and crashing?
