For the Sport owners

And that's the hard part my friend. Make sure whoever at the dealership, (preferably their lead mechanic) ride with you driving... I just called my brother who is a master mechanic and helps build/restore muscle cars for Year One... He agrees with me & you. It's your HUB's! The only other remote possibility it could be he says is your CV axles. But we doubt that because the pedal & floor vibration would still be present when you put on the brakes if it was a bad CV joint. Also, you would probably notice CV boot grease leaks on your driveway/garage. You would certainly notice the CV boots leaking like a busted sieve underneath the car.

I've fixed stuff myself in this situation because it was easier, quicker, faster, and done correctly the first time other than waiting on the Dealer to pony up, pun intended, to do the right thing. I realize that is not the easiest solution for most though and I agree with you that Ford should fix your problem 100% on their dime & time. Heck, have two of Fords mechanics ride with you at the same time if you can swing it. Good luck bro!

Ya i mean i am going to give it one last shot...after that like you said..it's easier and not that expensive to replace both of these items. The hassle..time off from work ect..takes too much for a simple issue that someone should have felt a long time ago. I get that if there is no play..the dealer probably won't do anything and say it's tight. It may be tight on a lift while not moving...but moving is a different story and the roughness (best way to describe it) isn't normal given how other sport owners don't have this.

When the guy said "characteristic" of this vehicle..i laughed and said why wasn't
it a characteristic 2 months ago? That's when he went on to say everything was tight

So today..i noticed with the windowns down..starting at about 30 MPH i get this clicking noise..like a rock is in the tires or something like that coming from front right side (can hear when aganst wall or hill ect more)...i took a video and you can here it...now i just need to find a way to upload..

I had my front rotors replaced a week ago...wonder if it's related to that? or maybe part of my issue?

I also checked codes when i loaded my Tune...and it was U0415..something to do with ABS/speed issue being sent from wheel

Vibration

So i purchased new tires. Alenza plus. Very good ride ect. But i am still having my same issue. On highway and faster speeds i am still getting a ton of road feel through the floor and pedal for some odd reason On new pavement..isnt as bad ect.

Do you guys feel any similer things when driving?

On my 15 sport with 4000 miles on it I have this annoying vibration between 68 and 80 mph. It's been there since day one. The service mgr said he can't feel a thing. I've had tires balanced and rotated twice, no difference! it's been back to the dealer three times. They think I'm wasting their time. At close to fifty grand for a vehicle I think I should not be feeling any vibrations!! Any input would be appreciated.

Through gas pedal?

I can feel it in the center console and watch the passengers seat shake.

Ya that is much different then my issue. My passengers seat has shook in every car i have owned when no one has been sitting in it...GP...G35x...14 Altima ect

So my local mechanic things it could be a axle issue..he took it for a quick drive and felt the roughness (funny...dealer couldn't!) when turning wheel at slow speeds ect. But who knows

Just an update...dealer found nothing..again...and called it normal...so i am just going to replace both hubs myself...can't keep doing this...something isn't right as really nothing should be felt though the pedal as it's only connected to the floor board..so something is making that vibrate ect...

If the dealer has charged you for any of your service, then be sure to keep your receipts, if you replace the hubs and problems go away, you should be able to work with the Ford folks here and make a claim.

No no charge so no worries there..just frustrating when nothing should really be felt at all. When i bought the truck it wasnt an issue...now that warmer weather has come and about 2k in...it started

ALso. The dealer forgot my undernear cowl? Not sure thats what its called. The piece to direct air under the engine..its gone..dealers man so frustrating....have problems. Told nothing or normal. But why doesnt the other 14 on the lot have it??

Well you should be able to make a claim for the parts cost.

Even if say it does fix it..and they said..well there was no problem to begin with as they keep telling me?

Worth a shot, you have ford reps on this forum who has followed your issues.

I mean its safe to say you should have no feel in the pedal as its atrached to nothing in the front end at all. Just the floor board. Now i can see a little feel if tires are horrible ect. I am almost wondering if any if this has to do with the adjustment part since they are power pedals... But it wouldn't explain the moaning. Ugh

Yea, I think at this point, your best bet is to do what you were saying and swap the hubs/shafts yourself, other than about $200 you have nothing to loose other than more sanity.

If you do go this route, take good pictures as it would be a great sticky for others!

Ya i guess that's my next step...i get a clicking when backing up as well and turning the left...just happened again..not sure if related

I have a 15' Sport with the adjustable pedals too. My Sport is as smooth as butter and has very tight steering; even at triple digits! Your problem is a bad HUB Unit Bearing! The only other thing it could be is a CV Axle. Have you crawled underneath with the Explorer on ramps and inspected the CV Boots. If there is no tears in them, ie, no grease then I'm 90% sure the CV's are fine. Just replace the HUBs yourself and use that tutorial I sent you. It will fix your problem and you will become much more comfortable and knowledgeable when working on your vehicle. I come from the school of if you want something done right then you have to do it your self. Your HUB problem would have to get to the point that your wheels would shake when grabbed at 6 and 12oclock before Ford will do anything about it. Change them for your own peace of mind; it's an easy job bro... Do it this Saturday. It won't take more than 4-5 hours your first time to do both sides and you will forever know how to do it. Good luck, and you have my number if you get stuck. Don't hesitate to call me...
