Do your puddle lights still work with your aftermarket remote start/keyless entry? If so what brand starter are you using? I'd hate to lose this feature. Thanks!

Yup, got the starter and lost the puddle lights on lock/unlock. Anyone know of a way around?

I had this nice long article about my experience with adding a remote start...then my internets went down. I was able to back peddle and copy what I wrote, well that was before my ADD kicked in and I was off to trying to get some dvd ripping software cracked.... Needless to say, i lost what I had wrote.

I will try to start fresh.

I recently had a viper 791 remote start installed. I am fairly familiar with car audio and can find my way around alarm wiring but I did not want to play with the car for the many hours it would take me to install one. Before getting it installed I was searching the internets :) to find wiring guides to keep my door keypad, progressive locks, and the puddle lamps. I found a few ford f150 forums where they talked about a "gold" or "platinum" series alarm that integrated into the factory alarm better than the ford installed code alarm. I found a few wiring guides for these alarms but thought these features were installed to the "gold" alarm's brain. The forums mentioned that they were able to have their door keypad disable the after market alarm. I am not sure if this is an alarm feature or if they merged the factory alarm off signal from the keypad to the after market alarms disable wire.

After the install I lost my Door Keypad, progressive locks, puddle lamps, and had the annoying double beep from the dome light delay. I know that the progressive locks can be fixed by wiring the alarm into the door circuit for it, but I dont mind it. If anyone can help us with the following it would be great. I have searched the forum for 2 weeks trying to find the answers but the ADD would kick in after about the 5th results page.

help with:
==Puddle lamps illuminate when unlocked/locked from after market alarm.
==Door Key pad integration into the factory alarm. -I understand that my alarm install has the factory alarm integration module installed but I am unsure if it simply overrides or integrates with the factory alarm.
==Help with the dome light circuit. Currently the intrusion detection appears to be wired to the dome light circuit. Isnt there a door circuit that is separate from the dome light signal? My alarm bypasses the dome light circuit because the light stays on for several seconds after the doors are locked.

Well I did pretty well retyping my ideas from before the ADD attack.

I'm going to speak with the companies tech dept when I get a minute. I don't have an alarm just keyless entry and starter. I really want the puddle lamps and courtesy dome light back. Don't care about the progressive locks. In fact I prefer it this way. Looking at my installation book for the keyless it looks like you can change the pulses for the unlock. It'll go from single to double pulse. My guess is double simulates pressing the unlock button twice.

as far as the dome light is concerned, it is wired in with the door trigger so there is nothing you can do about it unless your specific alarm has a bypass. i have an audiovox 998 and it beeps 3 times when i lock the doors because it is telling the alarm a door is open. i know on mine there is a way to bypass the "door ajar" warning, but i would rather not do that because then if a door is left open, i wouldnt know. i have not really noticed the puddle lights, i guess i dont pay attention that much. for the door keypad, i would like to know how to get it integrated as well. would be a great feature.

I have a viper 560xv alarm remote start with some options installed, installed it with my friend. The puddle lights work if I disarm the alarm (unlock doors) when the truck is "NOT" remote started. If it is running on the remote start, the puddle lights do not work. It is something to do with the ignition. I was told by the tech department that the puddle lights will not work if the ignition is on. Therefor they will not work if you open the doors with the truck running. I tried it on another explorer at the dealer and they were right. If the truck is running, even with the key. The puddle lights will not work.

Hope that helps
