Besides the X-Charger does anyone else make a kit for 05' explorer? At this point I dont care if its a supercharger/turbo/centri. I called explorerexpress today and dave said he would not be selling anymore of the base xchargers. Supposedly a new tsv, (or did he say tvs) charger is comming out by summer, if I heard him right.

I really dont want to wait until summer, lol.

You can always do a rear mount turbo. But its big $$$.

You are referring to a TVS. You have the V6 correct? The X-charger kit is the only one available for 4.0's, with the 4.6 you have to do some slight mods to 99-04 Mustang GT kits(using Kenne Bell, Whipple, etc).

So no, there's nothing really out there that's a straight forward kit other than the X-charger for the 4.0. One thing you could do is call Stiegemeier and see if they can do a port job on the X-charger to enhance it( http://www.stiegemeier.com/home.html ). They just started a new port job called the "Snake Bite" and I have heard good things about it.

Turbos will cost more, but give more power pound for pound. There is only one turbo'd 3rd gen(Mounty03 with a 4.6V8) and a few Sports(Jakee with a 4.0V6).

Didnt Jakee sell his Ex?

Great. Sounds like I am just going to have to wait then.

I was looking at some other mustang forums and there have been some trial runs and apparently there have been 20 or so preorders pushing the price of the kit to around $5600. And now the explorerexpress site says "MUSTANG X-CHARGER XTREME AVAILABLE SOON!"

Ugg, patience is NOT one of my strong suits! :D

Not that I'm aware of, I think he just tore it down and is doing a rebuild for more power? I'll have to PM him and find out.

If you dont want to do too much work but want some instant power just throw in some giggle gas, wet shot or dry shot. I dont know about the explorers but I know in the Taurus SHO's adding N20 took mabye a few hours of labor for a nice 50-100 shot, anything more and your talking fuel upgrades.

Nevermind. It was Jah and he wrecked it and sold the motor.

confused a bit do you have a 4.0L or a 4.6L?

the 99-04 mustang kits are not too tough to mod, the hardest is the drive-by-wire TB, from what I researched a year ago.. someone may have found a solution to this.

Any one have a link to the older thread where they documented the 4.6L supercharger on the Mont/EX?

Are you thinking of Rocket5979 with the Kenne Bell 2.2?

sure... Its been awhile... all I know it started with a Mustang kit.. I don't think it was drive-by-wire

any links would be great.

Yep, I am a V6 guy.

Here is a quote from a guy who co-created the new intake elbow thingy for the mustang.

I called him a few days ago because i was ready to finally buy the explorer 05' carb model and he told me that he was stopping production of that line until the new line was in place. He said he did not want to sell me a regular model because of the model would be comming out. I asked him how long it would be before i could order one of these new models and he said a few months. Is that correct? It will be a few months before i can get an x-charger for my 05' explorer? What kind of model will it be? I assume its just a built in intercooler right, or?

I am somewhat frustrated right now as i have waited a whole year to buy this thingand now that I am ready to pull the trigger.... well you know... uggg.

I know this is a mustang forum but i cant find very much on the explorer forums. You guys seem to be up to the minute when new stuff hits the market so thats why i come here!

David..

That would be great, let me know asap! thanks.

When the first Mustang kit was released I had waited for about a year but I couldn't be happier for waiting because it turned out to be exactly what I expected and then some.

I will talk to Dave and see what his plans are and get back to you. I know that the first 20 intercooled kits that are about to ship are all spoken for. Hell I didn't even get in on that and I helped develop it! LOL

If I were you and really wanted the new Explorer kit I would definitely touch bases with Dave once in a while so you don't miss the window when they do become available.

Dave told me that the new Explorer kit will use the R1900 TVS exclusively and will not be intercooled. The TVS will run much cooler anyway so should make for a big improvement for the Explorer kit. It would definitely be worth the wait! No ETA at this time but it looks like all that is needed is a new inlet tube similar to the one we are working on for the TVS kit on the Mustang.
