Tonight, when I left work, I started my 98 xlt. As soon as the engine turned over and I took my foot off the gas, it shut right off. It did this about 4 times. I had no problem with this before, and no warning. I quickly placed it in drive and I was good. While driving on the highway, I noticed my battery gauge wasn't in the middle as it normally is. When stalled in stop and go traffic, I noticed the gauge was heading towards low and my idle speed wasn't at the speed it normally is. Is it vaccum tubes loose? Someone help me before I take this to the dealership in the morning. I'm getting to the point that I think this XLT is a damn lemon.

was idle rpm low or high?

sounds like either an IAC problem or alternator problem.

The idle speed is somewhat even. It hiccups a little. It wasn't doing that before. At lunchtime this afternoon, I was hearing a kind of clicking sound while idling in the drive thru.
