Hello all~
I have a 1994 explorer XL , 4.0L OHV... the dash has the speedometer and tachometer. The problem is my gas gauge likes to stick on full, but when I pound on the dash it come down to where it is supposed to be. This theoretically isolates the fuel sender. Is it possible that my connections on the back of the gauge could be dirty or corroded, or could the gauge itself have problems? The fuel pump/sender is new.
Thanks all!

George

Yes. Bad connection. I don't remember the exact values at the moment, but the fuel gauge reads empty on low resistance, and full on high resistance. It's a range from about 30ohms to 130ohms.

An open circuit would have infinite resistance, meaning a full reading on the gauge.

coolness.... now I hope it has a dirty connection or I can find a gauge cheap. Ford wants $330 for it!!!! It's the size of a freaking half dollar... lol
Thanks

George
