hey-I was trying to fix my auto hubs --I read this thread: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149326&page=1&pp=20[/URL]

My question is: are the left and right hubs the same? the reason why is my drivers side where the hub goes on looks totally different than my passenger side (theres no spring or anything on the passenger side and it looks different)

I was gonna just re-install the hubs with washers and put her on four jackstands and engage the 4x4. if i do this and its working properly, will all four tires turn?

if not how can i test the 4x4?

thanks in advance

Hey greenman, the two hubs are identical, or should be at least. Not sure what you have going on in there...

If you put it in 4 wheel drive on jackstands you should have only one front wheel spin and as you probably have a limited slip rear diff both back tires should spin. It may be easier (and safer) to just put the front on jackstands and turn the front driveshaft by hand with the engine off, this should engage the front hubs and turn the front wheel(s).

Hows the weather "down" there in Labrador?

C.
