...If you hear your t/c engaging and you know the front axles engage, it is your auto hubs..;)

well see if you grab your front axles and you turn them they should turn a little then lock. well it does and if the hubs where blown/broken they would keep spinning.

welcome

how come you think its not in 4x4?

Auto hubs and transfer case issues are the most common. I expect it's possible that the auto hubs lock up well enough under the torque of your hand, but then slip under the greater torque the motor supplies.

How are you determining that the 4wd isn't engaging? I don't mean to be condescending or cause offense in suggesting this (I just don't know how much you know about 4wd systems), but probably the 3rd most common cause of these questions is someone who doesn't understand that open diffs mean that all the power to the front can go to one wheel. With only the 6 sentences you've written to go by and no way for me to personally inspect it, I just want to understand why you think it's not in 4wd.

...Good point on open Diff's...

well because none my front tires are spinning when i try to spin the tires and when i go through the mud.i am almost 100 percent sure its the autolocking hubs cause i lifted my truck earlier and i manually locked the axle so when i turned the drive line the axles turned but the tires didnt. i am sure its the auto hubs. any one kno anything about the manual hub conversion??????

That sounds like bad auto hubs.

What do you need to know about the manual hub conversion? In my mind there really isn't much to know. Get a Haynes/Chiltons manual and follow the instructions for disassembling the auto hubs, then reassemble according to the manual hub instructions.

...Stock Ford hubs are made by warn, for Ford..Warn manual hubs take the guess work out of things...Search "hubs" on here and you will find your question has been answered several times...;)

manual hubs new with the conversions will run you almost 300 bux

but if you live somewhere where it snows or are often in mudd situations then i recommend them

i did look around, but the problem was i left work with no 4x4 and ****ty tires all the way around in the beginning of a snow storm and was having a hell of a time getting anywhere, so i went to the nearest parts store and bought them

but i don't remember seeing them much cheaper anywhere else

guess i was wrong, the price you pay for procrastinating
