When will Ford or even GM follow Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Toyota.

I can go down to the Yota Dealer and for $30-$32K get a 4 door, 4x4, tundra pickup with 381hp and 400lbs of torque that can tow over 10K pounds. And they will give me a "Lifetime Warranty" on the engine/tranny and axles and other stuff.

I can get a Dodge Ram with the same options and 345hp for $29-$30.

Will Ford suck it and stand behind their product?

we have a brand new tundra crewmax and the only ones i saw for 35k were bare bone not even sure it had the big v8 ours was 51,000 but its a limited i seen nothing of a lifetime warentee we have about the same as we did on our f150 4 years we do nothing all maintance if free + the normal one

Those warranties are a joke. They are not transferable at all so the resale value is going to be even worse than they already are. Additionally, they are based on consumerisim. They are not transferable because they are depending on you to not keep it forever. Warranties are based on risk, just like an insurance policy. Ford obviously doesn't see enough turn-over in their vehicles to warrant offering such a warranty.

The crewmax does add some money, I priced out the most barebone truck powerwindows, 5.7L, tow package. it was $32ish. So one should be able to atleast get a $1,000 off.

As for the warranty. Seems that every other dealer offers it here.

haha I drive a 14 year old explorer, and until this week had a 90 civic almost 18 years old. I drive everything I own into the ground.

I call a 2000 model year car as NEW. But this Buzz with the warranty has me thinking it MAYBE better to buy new and drive it for a very, very long time?
I do not know.

Warranties are a joke. If you need a part when it's about a year old, they give you a run around, and say that they don't have it because it's too new. If you need parts in about 6-10 years, they tell you that a lot of things are discontinued.

Found this by accident- the Dodge warranties have several requirements that if not met, void the warranty. I am sure modifications like lift kits, oversize tires will void it as well. The big thing, IMO with Dodge, is every 2-3 years, you have to schedule an appointment with a dealer for an inspection, it has to be within a fairly narrow time frame of your original purchase. If you forget, too bad. I'm going to guess they won't send reminder cards.

Plus, lets say you blow an engine, replacement will require many seals, hoses, fluids, etc. Those things aren't covered under warranty, and dealer markup on those things are high- who pays for that?? You.

Hmm well I can not say I knew that. But I would like to find the entire wording of the warranty.

Actually its every 5 years and there is a 90 day window you have from that date. Big deal I think thats a pretty easy thing to do for a lifetime warranty. Plus if you read it, you read all the other stuff that is included not just the engine and transmission. Also you can add a lifetime bumper to bumper warranty on your vehicle.
