yes, I have one. The only difference is mine is blue. I have not had a chance to use it yet but plan to in the next week.

Please, let me know if it does work with Forscan

I will run it tomorrow and I am using forscan because so far nothing else has worked for me on my android phone market so I bought an old dell laptop with XP on it which is perfect for running most auto software. I will let you know the results.

Well I took it out this morning and it did not work. It did not surprise me that it did not. I honestly can't get anything to work on my Explorer, I have 2 blue tooth devices and although something is going on there it will not link with any of the android apps paid or free. Yet take it to ford and it connects every time with there set up. I know there is a lot of people here to have them working but I am uncertain of there year. I believe I have read in here that the 98 has some kind of other protocol for the OBD II but I could easily be wrong, but I did read it some where. Please don't let that shy you away as the knowledge base here in this group exceeds that of Ford, for our generation and a few other gen's. Good luck.
Oh my unit is a KKL VAG-COM and then says "for 409.1"

Sorry ear that...

I'm also waste money in several cheap blue obd bluetooth devices, without lucky

don't throw the blue tooth away as I believe it will work with other auto's, which I will test on a another vehicle when given the opportunity to do so. I have so much to do on my rig to worry about my OBD II things but I will get to it. Just keep reading here in this group as I think there is a fix for the elm 327 to work with the ford, (if you bought yours from China), you might check here in the group with the search words "elm 327" or check you tube with the search words "98 ford explorer elm 327 fix" that is an example try searching for your year of rig. Hope it works for you and keep me posted in this thread and I will do the same. Thanks,
Robert

Well, the maxiscan 309 is able to read and erase codes, but it doesn't allow to read live data...

There is something with the software in I believe 97 and 98 explorers that won't work (live data) with many OBD scan tools. I read that long ago with some scan tool I bought. It is a strange anomaly. Forscan MAY work because he uses Ford SCP calls (like the VCM) to read data. The device that the first poster posted is not that great. I ended up returning it, some of the values were really off. It is a clone of some other scan tool. I would say Forscan is king, I hope Ford don't go after him. I know they gave some other scan tool makers a hard time. Maybe they leave him alone because he don't charge much and it keeps a loyal hobbyist community.
